The Spinal Cord Injury Law Firm has been exclusively committed to representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries since its founding in 2019 by Kelley Simoneaux, driven by her own lived experience as a paraplegic.
Now the SCI Law Firm is adding more lived and professional experience to the table. New partner Josh Basile is a quadriplegic; former associate at Jack H. Olender, he’s experienced in representing individuals with catastrophic injury and medical malpractice cases.
The Spinal Cord Injury Law Firm is the only firm in the U.S. founded by a nationally recognized attorney who subjectively understands the SCI experience, and with Josh joining the firm, clients seeking representation are afforded the knowledge of a combined 30 years of trial experience by attorneys with an intimate understanding of SCI.
Like Kelley, Josh was injured as a teenager, passed the bar in a wheelchair, and built a career around fighting for families impacted by spinal cord injury.
Josh’s nonprofits—Determined2Heal and SPINALpedia— focus on mentoring newly injured families, expanding adaptive sports, and creating resources that empower independence. Josh says that the mission remains as strong as ever.
Following a catastrophic injury, individuals and their families are overwhelmed with questions and challenges, and letting them know they are not alone provides much-needed peace. SPINALpedia helps individuals navigate tricky government benefits, employment, and independent living. Josh has personally mentored thousands of clients for free, and the website hosts hundreds of free videos to help individuals navigate spinal cord injury challenges.
Josh has been busy reforming Medicaid Buy-In programs in multiple states to remove unfair income and asset limits for people with disabilities, too. He also invented a method for individuals with disabilities to play hands-free golf, and his nonprofit makes it possible for anyone to try.
